COVID Update

Current Status:

The home is currently free of COVID-19.

What this means:

Life within the Home is continuing as normal:  all communal areas such as the café and games room are open and residents can visit friends in other flats and meet up together within the café and wider body of the Home.  Residents can venture out into the wider community for planned excursions, shopping trips, meals out and spend time with their friends and family out with the Home.  Visitors are welcome to spend time with relatives within the Home but we ask that you follow the visiting guidelines detailed below.

COVID prevention measures remain in place and whilst we understand these may be an inconvenience, we ask for your understanding as we undertake these essential measures.   Anyone visiting the home will still have to undertake a Lateral Flow test, either prior to leaving home or before they enter the building, hands must be sanitised, and the temperature check, symptom screening checklist and mandatory requirement to wear a face mask* remain in place.

All staff continue to wear medical grade surgical masks throughout their shifts and sanitise their hands regularly. All staff must lateral flow test three times a week before coming into work and undertake a weekly PCR test. Any staff member who returns a positive result must self isolate for the mandatory duration and can only return to work once they are recovered and are symptom free.

Residents will be routinely PCR tested once every six weeks by the local Public Health Scotland team.  Should any resident display potential symptoms, they will be Lateral Flow Tested immediately.

Should the situation change, relatives will be contacted and updated by staff.  The information displayed in this COVID-Update section of the website will also change.

*medical exemptions apply

Visiting:

We are following the Scottish Government's 'Open With Care' Guidance, which means:

  • Visiting by family and friends is actively encouraged by the Home and we ask that you phone the Home on 01786 812421 to make arrangements.
  • All visitors are required to adhere to the strict covid-prevention measures the Home has in place (see above) and the current national guidance requirements as issued by the Scottish Government.
  • Indoor visits are available, and these will take place within the resident’s private room or within the library area. Visitors are required to keep their face coverings in place for the duration of the visit and they should maintain an appropriate social distance from other residents and staff members at all times.
  • Outdoor visiting is also available, either within the dedicated ‘Visiting Pods’ or within our extensive garden areas.  Face coverings are not mandatory for outdoor visits, however we ask that you maintain an appropriate social distance from other residents within the grounds.
  • If you cannot visit in person, you can arrange for a ‘virtual visit’, using one of the video conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Facetime or What’sApp. We have tablets available for residents to borrow if they don’t have a device of their own.  Phone calls, letters and cards are also a lovely way to keep in touch.

You are welcome to visit as often as you wish.  Please contact staff in advance to make the arrangements.

Updates:

Staff will keep you informed of any change to the COVID status of the Home, and will update you if there is any change to your relative's condition.  You are, of course, welcome to phone your relative or their staff team at anytime:
