Revitalising our Victorian Building

Many care homes in the UK are charities, and William Simpsons is no different.  While we moved the main home into a new, purpose-built structure in 2011, our 6 bed respite home remained in an older building and requires some love, attention and funding to enhance facilities for the residents.

The smaller home is a stepping stone for the individuals we support, whether they are transitioning back into their own community, preparing for a longer-term place in the main home or staying for a week or two of respite care.

The smaller home also offers help, support, care and understanding to families who are feeling stressed or emotional as a result of caring for an individual with a mental health diagnosis or addiction.

Work has already commenced on the upgrade, with a new kitchen area, upgraded living area, six refurbished bedrooms with their own shower rooms.  To complete the upgrade, we need your help.

Work still to be done includes:

  • Structural alterations
  • Roof and dormer window repairs/replacements
  • Replacement windows
  • Upgrade to one bedroom and bathroom
  • New internal walls and partitions
  • Additions to the new heating system
  • New wall and floor finishing’s in hallway and staircase
  • Electrical installations
  • Decoration

Can you donate or fundraise to help us finish the project and close the appeal?

What’s the aim?

We need to raise a total of £244,030 to complete the upgrade and thanks to the generosity of people like you, we have already raised £127,298.

How can we achieve our goal?

We hope to achieve our goal through donations and fundraisers.  Even a small donation will get us closer to our goal or, if you felt like taking on a bigger challenge, you might wish to set up your own fundraising activity and page so that your friends can also donate.

However you choose to help us with our capital appeal, we will be very, very grateful.
