Make a difference for adults living with a mental health diagnosis

Every day, in multiple ways, William Simpsons volunteers give their time and their efforts to help make a difference for residents in our care home.

William Simpsons residential care home supports adults with a mental health diagnosis to live an independent, fulfilling life. Our purpose is to deliver person-centred care and support to residents and service users. Our mission is to help people to make their own choices and live their best lives through individualised support and care that enhances mental health and wellbeing. Aspirationally, our vision is to transform William Simpsons into a fully supported care village by our 200^th birthday in 2036.

Without the support of our volunteers, none of this is achievable.

By contributing time and skills you can play an important part in ensuring that each resident in our care has the opportunity to live their best life.

There are countless different ways in which volunteers can help at William Simpsons, from simply spending time with residents right through to getting your hands dirty helping to maintain our grounds.

Activities	Entertainment	Driving
Do you craft, cook, paint or model make? Are you expert at line fishing or line dancing? Do you enjoy going to the theatre, cinema or sporting events? Pass on your knowledge and share your interests with residents through informal hobby classes and outings.	Can you sing, play an instrument, perform magic or tell great jokes? Residents love to be entertained and a session from you may be something that makes their day.	If you have a clean driving licence and some time to spare, you could become a volunteer driver, taking residents to and from appointments. Volunteer drivers make a world of difference to us.
Gardening	Befriending	Pet Therapy
If you have a green fingers or enjoy working outdoors, our estates team always appreciate help with planting and maintenance.	Spending time chatting with residents is one of the simplest but most beneficial ways that a volunteer can help at William Simpsons.	If your pet is calm and people-friendly, then you can bring joy and comfort to residents who enjoy being able to interact and touch a friendly animal.
Baking and Cookery	Café and Shop	Administration
If you are a whizz in the kitchen and can cook or bake up a storm, we would love you to share your expertise with residents through one-to-one and small group sessions.	If you enjoy a chat and make a great cuppa, why not help out in our resident’s café and shop?	Would you like to brush up old admin skills or are you looking for work experience? Helping behind the scenes within our admin offices is a great way to gain confidence and experience.
