William Simpsons has been supporting vulnerable adults since 1836 and we currently operate as a residential home that supports adults with a mental health diagnosis to live an independent, fulfilling life.

Much has changed since the charity’s inception almost 200 years ago and William Simpsons has grown and evolved over time to become the person-centred care and support service that it is today. It is my intention that this evolution continues to help our care home to transform over time into a fully supported care village that provides a range of support aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of everyone who uses our services.

On a valuable mission, with purpose and vision

The purpose of William Simpsons is to deliver person-centred care and support to residents and service users.  Our mission is to help people to make their own choices and live their best lives through individualised support and care than enhances mental health and wellbeing.  These are central to everything that we do and are supported by our values:

  • Integrity
  • Compassion
  • Respect
  • Dignity
  • Optimism
  • Ambition
  • Courage

I am also really excited about our vision, which will see William Simpsons transformed into a fully supported care village by our 200th birthday in 2036. If our vision is realised, it will provide residential care, daycare, respite, drop-in and supporting living services centred around the choices and wishes of each service user.

We will continue to support residents with transitioning back to their own local community, however, we will also have independent, supported living within our own six acres of beautiful grounds.

Realising the vision

To help make our vision a reality, we will be creating an executing a strategic plan over the next 15 years that will help us work towards our goal.

Our supporters will play a huge part in achieving our vision, as we raise the funds needed for our purpose-built care village and supporting services.  In order to help them to help us, we’ve revamped our website to enable fundraisers to create and launch their own fundraising pages – providing the ability to attract supporters and manage the funds raised in one easy-to-use place.

The vision for William Simpsons is ambitious, but our ultimate goal – and our journey to get there - will enrich the lives of countless adults living with a mental health diagnosis. And that is what William Simpsons will always be about. I can’t wait to get started.
